Mercury & Sharps Disposal

We accept and safely dispose of sharps in appropriate biohazard containers for a small fee. Sharps in proper containers can be brought to the Health Department during normal business hours. The fee will vary based on the size of the container and ranges from $4 to $8 per container.

We accept and safely dispose of fever and laboratory thermometers, thermostats, button cell batteries, blood pressure units, barometers, and mercury switches. In addition, the DPW is accepting fluorescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs at the recycling center the first Saturday of each month from 9 am to noon.
